Privacy Policy

QvMote is a remote control for Apple TV — Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. This page explains, plainly, what it touches and what it never does.
In short
- No account, no sign-in. QvMote works the moment you pair it with your Apple TV.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Nothing about how you use the app is measured or sold.
- Your Apple TV data stays between your devices. Now Playing info and history sync only through your own private iCloud account.
- AI search is optional and direct. If you add your own AI provider key, your searches go straight from your device to that provider — never through QvMote's developer.
Overview
QvMote (developed by Quvoix) is a companion app that discovers, pairs with, and controls an Apple TV on your local network — navigation, volume, playback, app launching, and a history of what's played. It has no server of its own; it talks directly to your Apple TV, to Apple's own services on your behalf, and, only if you choose to enable it, to a third-party AI provider using your own credentials.
What QvMote accesses
Your Apple TV, over your local network
QvMote discovers Apple TVs on the same Wi-Fi network using Apple's standard Bonjour services (_mediaremotetv._tcp, _companion-link._tcp, _airplay._tcp). Pairing and every remote command travel directly between your device and your Apple TV — this traffic never leaves your local network or passes through QvMote's developer.
Now Playing & history
Once paired, QvMote receives live playback information — title, artwork, app, and progress — directly from your Apple TV over Apple's MediaRemote protocol, the same mechanism Apple's own Control Center "Now Playing" card uses. This is logged locally on your device as your History, and syncs privately across your own Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Watch through your personal iCloud account (Apple CloudKit, private database). Quvoix, the developer, cannot see, access, or recover this data — it lives entirely inside your iCloud account.
App icons
To show real icons for the apps installed on your Apple TV, QvMote looks them up by bundle identifier through Apple's public App Store lookup API — the same public service any app is free to query.
Optional: AI-powered content search
The Apps tab can answer "which of my apps has this?" two ways. The default, on-device mode uses Apple Intelligence entirely on your device — nothing leaves it. If you instead configure your own API key for Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or OpenRouter in Settings, your typed search text and the names of your installed apps are sent directly from your device to that provider's servers, authenticated with your own key and governed by your own agreement with that provider. Quvoix never receives, stores, or has visibility into this traffic. Your key is stored only in your device's Keychain — never in plain text, never on a Quvoix server, because none exists.
Storage & security
- API keys — Keychain only, scoped to QvMote, encrypted by the OS.
- History — stored on-device (SwiftData) and mirrored to your private iCloud database for cross-device sync.
- Preferences (theme, provider choice, volume display, etc.) — standard on-device app storage, never synced off your device.
What we don't collect
QvMote has no backend, so there is nowhere for the following to go: no accounts or sign-in, no advertising identifiers or ad SDKs, no analytics or usage telemetry, no location data, no contacts, no camera or microphone access, and no selling or sharing of any data with third parties for marketing purposes.

QvMote relies on the following services, each governed by its own provider's privacy policy:

Children's privacy
QvMote is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Since the app requires no account and stores data only on-device or in the user's own iCloud, there is no mechanism by which it would.
Your choices
- Clear part or all of your history anytime from Settings.
- Remove an AI provider key anytime — this immediately reverts search to on-device only.
- Unpair from an Apple TV anytime, which discards its stored pairing credentials.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page will update. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
